While walking up the path that runs to the foot of the Buffalo Bill Dam last year, I came across this woolly bear caterpillar making its way up the canyon wall. I was impressed by its commitment and ability to scale the sheer rock face, but really puzzled about where it was headed

Maybe the caterpillar, as it would in its moth state, was simply headed towards the light, whatever the cost.

It seems like this image would work on one of those inspirational "Hang in there!*" posters, with caveat that *this caterpillar has, like, dozens of feet to keep it anchored while you've only got two. Sorry.
