Not Focused Language

While I try to finish the post I've been sporadically working on for the past two weeks, why don't you check out these two football-related headlines from a while back. When taken out of context, I'd contend they carry incredibly different meanings than their intended ones.

Probable reaction: "I don't want my son going to Washington this summer!"
The facts: While both have been involved in rehab*, Steve, unlike Mark, isn't in hot water over sexually harassing pages. He just got shot three times by an off-duty policeman, allegedly for driving with a .233(!) blood-alcohol level.

Probable reaction: "How big are the guy's scissors?!"
The facts: New York Giants running back Tiki** Barber is seriously considering getting out of football after this season is over.

Words sure are fun, huh?

*Original story on Steve Foley's rehab is here, while a story on Mark Foley's rehab can be found here.
**Real name: Atiim Kiambu Barber. Oddly enough, he has an identical twin brother named Ronde (real name: Jamael Oronde) who also plays in the NFL. What are the odds of that?!
