Rethinking "The Horse Whisperer"

When it comes to movies and me, by the time the credits roll around, I seem to always find myself stuck with lots of nagging questions.

For example, I'm still trying to figure out why Mark Wahlberg's character on Planet of the Apes would pass up fame, acclaim, and a good-looking girlfriend for a stupid and ridiculously pointless trip back to dumb planet Earth.* I'm also still shuddering over how awful Batman Begins would have been if Ashton Kutcher had landed the role of the Dark Knight; I can pretty much assure you it wouldn't have been the CJ favorite it is today.

But another question that I've been pondering for a while is what "The Horse Whisperer" would have ended up looking like if Robert Redford's character had been noisier and more cynical. I'm no cinema expert, but I'm betting there's a good chance we would have ended up with something like this... Then again, I could be way off.

*Why yes, I am still royally peeved about that ending, why do you ask?

The Horse Whisperer made me angry too! The book was good, I thought. And then Redford had to ruin the movie! After all of the hype! Seriously...I remember being like 12 and crying because the movie sucked. Ha ha. Maybe I'd appreciate both now that I'm older...but I'm not sure I want to waste my life to find out :-P

Sometimes, Carol, I'm waaaay too funny for my own self. In fact, apparently some of my own jokes go right over my own head. :D
