I'm a touch on the late side in posting this, but tardy or not, I'd like to offer you, my loyal readership, my Unknown Knowns New Year's resolutions.
In 2006 I promise to...
...become more dark and mysterious.
I believe that in a lot of ways, I've allowed myself to become far too attached to my blog. I believe that keeping a certain amount of detachment and level of personal privacy is important, and that I may have crossed those boundaries in the past. This year I will no longer be posting photos of myself to make sure I maintain a higher degree of separation between my real life and my digital one. Now, this is certainly not to say that Unknown Knowns and Other Ramblings will be playing a smaller role in my life, but rather that I will most likely not be sharing pictures of me looking silly or posting details about my daily activities. I hope this does not offend anyone, but I believe it is for the best.
...stop with the clichéd and rehashed humor, namely commentary concerning Michael Jackson.
I know it will be difficult, but looking back, I've already made more than my share of cracks at the king of pop's expense. It's time for me to just leave the man(?) alone. Whoops. Sorry. I apologize for the question mark, I really couldn't help myself. I assure you that will be the last time I give in to such tendencies. It certainly will be an uphill battle, but I truly believe that such unoriginal content really doesn't have a place on a website like this.
...not post anything pointless I am forced to relegate to the "Worthless Ramblings" section of the Index.
In the past, posts sometimes rambled on for ages without offering any real meaning or point. I've learned my lesson.
...adopt a no tolerance policy towards posting hastily edited, unprofessional looking images.
2005 taught me that it really is important to present you all clean and clutter-free pictures that truly add and never detract from the Unknown Knowns experience. From now on, I will make sure that all the pictures that I edit are as close to blemish-free as possible, and I apologize for past lapses in quality control.
...resist the urge to mention/hype/blabber about any upcoming projects I have planned before they are completed, no matter how creative and amazing they may be.
In 2006, I will do my best to halt all the previews of "what's coming up". I've learned that a truly great project needs no introduction. And that's final, regardless of the item in question.
This upcoming year will be one of change and one that will bring a more polished and undoubtedly far more enjoyable Unknown Knowns to your eyes, thanks to the resolutions above.
Now of course there's a chance that my ambitious resolutions will hold up as well as a Jackson nose job, but I am confident that this will not be the case. I am determined to follow through on these promises. Rest assured as well that 2006 will bring many exciting new things - Mr. Mosty is planning on a triumphant reappearance any day now, and I'm putting together a massive and exciting new idea that deals with modern movies.
Also, allow me to elaborate on my commitment to terminate all rambling posts. This year, I will not waste your time talking about why I'm not posting or anything like that. Blathering on and on and on and on endlessly truly serves no purpose. It wastes my time in writing it, and it wastes your time in reading it. 2005, if nothing else, taught me to value the time allocated to myself and others. It was almost as if the year itself, in it's most basic and essential essence was saying to me, CJ Baker, "CJ, time is not something that you can freely go about trifling with, it is a gift." In other words, I will not be engaging in long-winded spiels about nothing in the coming year, or the years to follow after this one. This new chapter in Unknown Knowns' history will be free of such nonsense. Every post will have a clear value to the reader and not be without worthwhile information that provides you with entertainment or something else that you can use or enjoy in a manner that will be obvious and apparent.
Needless to say, 2005 is now history and a new year awaits us all. At Unknown Knowns and Other Ramblings, despite my basketball playing on Friday nights, my obsession with Pringles (my favorite chips), and my 2006 resolution to firmly guard and withhold the personal details of my life, I vow to you that I will certainly be doing my best to going out with the old and in with the new.
Here's to a terrific year of Unknown Knowns and you.
Thanks and very truly yours,
P.S. I'm really hoping you knew that the entire above was a joke. The only resolution I plan on keeping this year in regards to the site is the 1280 by 1024 pixel display that I view it with.
P.S.S. In all sincerity, I would like to wish you all a great 2006. Seriously.
