Well, it's been a while, mostly thanks to those Boston Red Sox, er, excuse me, those WORLD CHAMPION Boston Red Sox, and of course, a couple pain-in-the-neck English papers, but I'm back.
Bush Chides Kerry for Iraq Explosives Talk
"A political candidate who jumps to conclusions without knowing the facts is not a person you want as your commander in chief," Bush told supporters at an airport rally.
First off, wow. You have to be dedicated to show up at an airport rally. I mean, if you get bored, and start clipping your nails...WHAM!!! You just earned yourself a all-expense paid* vacation to sunny and beautiful Guantanamo Bay (*meals not included).
But seriously, what in the world was Bush thinking?! I see two problems with this quote.
1) Politicians always shoot from-anywhere-but-the-hip first, and think later...sometimes, a whole lot later.
2) Most importantly, this is George W. "Don't beat around the" Bush we're talking about here! For crying out loud, Mr. Pre-emptive Strike himself!? Bush trying to say that he doesn't jump to conclusion is like Kerry trying to say he's never flip-flopped in his life. Puh-lease.
Arafat 'Very Sick,' Foreign Medics Summoned
Yes. Arafat's good friend and colleague, Ariel Sharon has personally ensured that the best Israeli medics were on hand to help "take care" of the Palestinian leader.
Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said Arafat's condition had "greatly worsened" but "it is too early to eulogize" him.
You know, I just have this feeling that those "quotes" were actually politically correct interpretations of what Shalom actually said. According to one official, Shalom actually said, "It is great that (Arafat) has worsened," and "it's too early" was in reality a slight altering of his comment that: "I'll eulogize him over my dead body!"
Talk about the media twisting things. Man, what nerve.
